"Do you ever think about what happened?"
Ethan looks at Shaun. His son never talks about his abduction. "I don't think it's something I'll ever forget."
"Me neither." Shaun pushes cereal around his bowl. "I knew you'd find me, but I was really scared."
Ethan strokes Shaun's hair. "I know, buddy," he says softly.
Shaun gets up and hugs his father tightly. "Can I go play at Derek's?"
The conversation's over. "Sure you can. Just be home for lunch."
As Shaun leaves, Ethan knows that neither he nor his son will ever truly be free of what happened to them.
